I'm not about the cold, authoritative environments filled with the focus being on everyone but the mother. I'm all about holding a warm and approachable space for you to ask questions, feel supported, and be fully informed through every step of the way. By providing evidence-based information, I carefully guide you to make empowered choices throughout your birth experience. Because you deserve a birth you love.

My passion for supporting birth comes from my own lived experiences and from hearing stories of those closest to me. My desire is to walk alongside women throughout pregnancy and birth so that they feel heard, supported, and respected.

It’s hard for me describe how grateful I am to Alexis for being with me during the birth of my daughter. This is my first child and all of her recommendations were spot on. When I didn’t know what to do, having Alexis there to advocate for me and what I wanted to achieve was priceless. She walked me through every case scenario and how I would want to respond to it while my mind was clear. Then when I was giving birth, it’s true what they say.

"Alexis was there to keep me motivated to achieve the birth I wanted to achieve and advocate for my wishes when I couldn’t advocate for myself."

I felt so vulnerable and it would’ve been easy to give in to what everyone else in the room wanted me to do. Even someone well meaning like my own panicked mom who hated seeing me in pain. Alexis was there to keep me motivated to achieve the birth I wanted to achieve and advocate for my wishes when I couldn’t advocate for myself. Even when plan A wasn’t possible. She knew and reminded me of my desires for plans B and C. She also kept everyone calm reminding us that this was normal and I was going to be okay. I don’t know what I would have done without her. She was strong for me and I am forever grateful. You would not regret having her at your side during birth.

As a first-time mother navigating through the pregnancy and childbirth, I couldn't have asked for a better support person. Alexis always listened to my concerns and anxieties while providing me with options for my family. I always felt empowered to make decisions because of the knowledge Alexis had during this process. I ended up having a c-section birth and my baby went to the transition unit for a few hours due to low oxygen. Hospital policy did not allow doulas in the operation room; however, Alexis came immediately after I was transitioned to post-op while my husband was with our baby.

Alexis had so much empathy for the situation and encouraged me while I was without my family. At our request, she spent time with our family once baby was in our postpartum room at the hospital and took some beautiful pictures. She even brought some delicious lactation treats! After going home with baby and husband, Alexis checked in on me often. She was able to help me navigate through my baby blues by validating my feelings and helping me realize the extreme emotions would pass. I will absolutely be asking Alexis to be at my next birth.

I made the decision to hire a doula a bit late in my pregnancy and was concerned I wouldn’t be able to find someone with availability on such short notice. I interviewed several others before meeting with Alexis and I knew instantly she was the perfect doula for me. From the very beginning, she provided me with the personalized support I needed to help me through the unique challenges and emotions I experienced during my pregnancy and delivery. She was there for me every step of the way and I can truly say I, and my husband, could not have done this without her!

In addition to her wealth of knowledge about the labor and delivery process, she advocated for me at the hospital when I couldn’t/wouldn’t speak up for myself. Alexis also goes above and beyond when it comes to post-partum support. She checked in on me regularly and talked through any feelings or worries I was having. I genuinely cannot begin to say how thankful I am for Alexis and how she walked with us through our journey to parenthood. We had two prenatal meetings where she met with my husband and I to talk through our birth wishes and just get to know us as people. She focused on getting to know the "why" behind our birth wishes and not just the "what." Her background in counseling was such a perfect fit with her doula services as she helped us walk through the crazy emotions that surround birth and becoming a parent.

We talked through how I would feel emotionally if my birth didn't go "according to plan;" we talked about how our marriage was doing in the midst of the pregnancy. Her birth class was super helpful in it made us informed and prepared about what would and could happen during birth.

She did check ins after every OB appointment to see how things were going and see how I was feeling every step of the way. When my water broke, she checked in every few hours to keep up with my early labor and give us tips for the early contractions and then met us at the hospital when I was in active labor. I had all back labor, and she and my husband took turns giving me counter pressure on my back for hours.

She helped guide me on when to switch positions and try new tactics. She was even there to help with little things like moving our car because it was still parked out front. After our son was born, Alexis stayed with us a few more hours until we were fully settled in our recovery room. She did a follow up meeting with us about a week after delivery and just sat with us and helped me process my birth experience which thankfully was everything that I wanted, but it's still a lot to process.

Alexis set up a meal train for us and even brought a meal herself. She texted and checked in with how I was healing, how I was doing emotionally, and just how I was adjusting to motherhood every few days after birth and then weekly for the first two months postpartum. My husband and I genuinely felt like we weren't in this alone, that we had a guide walking through it with us. It was so nice that my husband could support me emotionally and didn't have to worry about having all of the knowledge to specifically support me during labor - he could focus on being my husband and not my coach. We just felt so supported and encouraged the entire journey. She constantly went above and beyond what a typical doula would do. I cannot rave about Alexis enough, and our plan is to have her present for all future childbirths.

I hired a doula for my second after experiencing a traumatic first birth. I kept hearing stories from other new mothers describing how they felt like they weren't listened to during birth, and that birth just happened TO them. I knew with my clinical counseling background I could empower women to take back their birth experience and potentially reduce their perceived trauma.

Why did you become a doula?

My number one goal is that my clients are educated and make choices that are best for their family. I understand that people have different goals and preferences, I  am not here to judge. Natural birth? Let's do it. Epidural? Right on mama. Somewhere in the middle? Let's discuss benefits and risks. I am here to help you understand your options and make this the best experience for YOU. I adapt to your preferences. One thing that doesn't change is my ability to be calm, straightforward, and maybe throw in a little humor.

What is your doula style?

I am located in Cumming, Ga. and feel comfortable supporting births within a 90 min radius. The most common hospitals I frequent are Northside Forsyth, NEGMC Gainesville, and Wellstar North Fulton. I encourage all expecting parents to ensure their provider and hospital align with their ideal birth preferences. Not sure? Reach out and let me help you find a good fit!

What areas do you serve?

I take no more than 3 births per month. I have a few trusted doula friends who are able to provide backup support in the case of emergency.

How many births do you take per month?

I am! I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in 2018 and my life has been radically transformed in the most amazing ways ever since. I truly believe that serving as a doula is what God planned for my life.  If you prefer not to discuss religion that is okay. My goal is to show people the love of Jesus regardless.

Are you a Christian doula?

Doulas are extremely beneficial regardless of your birth plan. If your epidural works like magic, GREAT! Let's keep you moving in bed as much as we can and get you in the most optimal positioning. Sometimes epidurals are not 100%. In that case you'll be glad to have a support person who knows techniques to help manage pain.

What if I plan on using an epidural?
